Flooding Devastates Rural Nebraska
Interchurch Ministries of Nebraska has been in touch with Church World Service and the Disciples Week of Compassion Fund to discuss ways they can assist IMN in flood relief efforts. Our Executive Director, the Rev. Jerry Albright, will be in conversations with both the these organizations today and tomorrow. However, we need a clear picture of the needs local communities and congregations are facing in order to be strategically responsive. Please send me IMN assessment of the communities in your communion affected by the flooding, the needs that are most felt, and the needs of any congregation working to relieve those engulfed by this disaster. Use this address: firstname.lastname@example.org. I should also mention that the Rural Response Hotline is open to take calls for counseling and other unmet needs. Please use the HOTLINE number (800)464-0258. The workers taking calls on that line are members of the farming community and they are well prepared to direct callers for counseling and other farm related assistance in this time of crisis. Please also take note that the Emergency Fund of our Rural Response Council is nearly depleted already and we need to replenish it so that farmers and ranchers can get immediate help with daily needs, shelter, and medical assistance.
