Nebraska Suicide Prevention
The University of Nebraska Public Policy Center is partnering with the Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Coalition, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Behavioral Health, Nebraska Department of Education, Regional Behavioral Health Authorities, and Interchurch Ministries of Nebraska to carry out activities as part of a youth suicide prevention grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a branch of the federal Department of Health and Human Services.
The project will increase general awareness of suicide as a preventable public health problem and produce measurable decreases in Nebraska’s youth suicide rates through promotion of evidence based or informed practices in suicide prevention for schools, clinical settings and communities. This five year grant awarded to the Nebraska State office of the Governor spans the time frame of 2014 – 2019.
